Among nature and tradition
Limone is home to a considerable number of olive trees, anevergreen fruit tree that is very common in the Lake Garda area. It is a tree that suffers from low temperatures and drought but is very long-lived. In the autumn, around October, the olives are harvested to extract the oil. This is a very important farming tradition, which is often still done manually as in the past, using cloths, tongs and ladders. The extra virgin oil that is produced is rich in nutrients, extremely tasty and has excellent organoleptic properties.
At the Limone oil mill, you can visit the rooms of the ancient oil mill and discover the oil production cycle, followed by a small tasting of the homemade olive oil by the glass. The package includes a visit to the oil mill with oil tasting. The possible days at the “Oleificio Cooperativa Possidenti Oliveti di Limone sul Garda” are from Monday to Friday and the duration is from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00 and participation is free of charge.
From mid-October to the beginning of November, guests can watch the olive harvest in the gardens of the Hotel Caravel and participate in the field tasting.
From 9 October to 7 November the price for a week with half board in a Superior category room and including the oil tasting as described above is € 410.00 per person.
